About a year ago she was injured in a testing accident in which she hit a transport truck, suffering massive cranial injuries which resulted in her losing her right eye (thus the eye patch). Her passing and the accident are two completely separate incidents.

Death as result of an infection would be a natural cause. Death by brain aneurism would be a natural cause. Which would not be terribly surprising given her past injuries. I have no idea what it is in this specific case.
It could also be a eufemism for suicide. For now we just have no way of knowing.
